2021 Southwest Florida Council
Camp Safety Covid-19 Protocols

Protocols are based on the most readily available and reliable information to ensure our youth and volunteers are in the safest and healthiest environment possible when participating in Scouting activities and are subject to change on-site.

Options to reduce quarantine

Reducing the length of quarantine may make it easier for people to quarantine by reducing the time they cannot work. A shorter quarantine period also can lessen stress on the public health system, especially when new infections are rapidly rising.

Your local public health authorities make the final decisions about how long quarantine should last, based on local conditions and needs. Follow the recommendations of your local public health department if you need to quarantine. Options they will consider include stopping quarantine

  • After day 10 without testing
  • After day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)

CDC Suggestions for Youth and Summer Camps

The Southwest Florida Council operates 2 camp properties to support our youth, parents and leaders.  Camp Flying Eagle, located on the Little Manatee River in Bradenton, Florida consists of 185 acres, and Camp Miles, located on the Price-Sanders Scout Reservation located in Punta Gorda, Florida, consists of 1,200 acres, both of which provide a unique camping experience for our Scouts and leaders on a year-round basis.

Camp reservations include campsite, shelters, program areas, shooting ranges, C.O.P.E./Climbing, aquatics and more!  Reservation of all facilities is processed through the online system.  Due to high demand we recommend making reservations significantly in advance with a minimum 2-week notice (NoteNo access to system within 2 weeks of desired date).  Some program reservations, such as those for C.O.P.E./Climbing, shooting range or aquatics require a 30 day notice.  As you plan your unit camping calendar, please note to check the camp availability, as camp may not be available on certain dates due to council or district events, holidays, or other camp maintenance closures.  Camp reservations for unit weekend camping are on a first-come first-serve basis.  Note:  The reservation window for units opens on July 1 of each year and runs through June 30.
