What is Wood Badge?
Wood Badge is the premier adult leadership development course for Scouting America. Its purpose is simple: to help adult leaders deliver the highest quality Scouting program, so young people can reach their highest potential.
Held around the world since 1919, Wood Badge builds on the best traditions of Scouting and draws on current leadership models from successful organizations, businesses, and academic research to present the latest in leadership and team development.
Working your Ticket
During the course you'll develop your Ticket: a personal set of goals for putting what you learn to work in your unit, district, or council. It includes your own vision and mission statement and the steps to get there, and completing it is how you earn your beads.
How Will Wood Badge Help Me?
You'll learn outdoor and leadership skills in a living, hands-on environment, and apply them to Scouting and your personal life. By the end of the course, you'll be able to:

Who can attend?
It's not just for Scoutmasters. Wood Badge is open to all adult Scouters:
Cub Scout leaders
Scouts BSA leaders
Venturing and Sea Scout leaders
District and council leaders
Graduates of previous Wood Badge courses are welcome to take the current course.
What are the prerequisites?
Be a registered adult member of Scouting America
Have current Safeguarding Youth Training
Complete position-specific training for your primary Scouting position
Course format: five days over two weekends about a month apart. Weekend 1 runs Friday morning through early Sunday evening, and Weekend 2 runs Saturday morning through early Sunday evening. Your patrol will also schedule one or two meetings between the weekends, at times that work for you.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition includes all course materials, meals, a course hat, one participant T-shirt (cotton, short sleeve), and one council shoulder patch.
