Best Practice: Never Copy & Paste URLs from the Browser’s Address Bar
If you want to share a link to an event, program or anything else in Doubleknot, never copy and paste the URL from your browser’s address bar. The URL in your address bar may not work for others if you try to share it. Doubleknot provides several ways to identify and publish direct links to Doubleknot pages.
IMPORTANT: Before you publish any link anywhere, be sure to test the link! If you’re including the link in any kind of email message—regardless of whether you’re using Communications Center, Gmail, Outlook or any other email program— send a test message to yourself and click the link to make sure that it works. If you’re posting the link on a web page or social media, be sure to test the link before you publish.
Sharing a Link in a Doubleknot Page
If you’re sharing the link using a Doubleknot communications tool, like Communications Center, Site Brander and Newsroom, use the DK Links button to select the page or document you want to share.
Sharing a Link Using Another Tool
Sometimes you may need to share a Doubleknot link outside of Doubleknot’s tools, such as publishing the link on another web site or in a personal email. Be sure that you use the right URL:
- To find the top-level link for any Doubleknot feature (such as the calendar, the event list, the event search feature, the facility calendar, facility search, newsletters, etc.), click Organization URLs in the Administer panel.
- To find the link for a specific item, go to the top level of the item. The URL will be displayed at the top of the page. For example, the URL for a specific event is displayed on the Manage Event page; the URL for a specific photo album is displayed on the Create and Modify page for the photo album; etc.
- On any management page that lists two URLs, copy and share the shorter “friendly” URL. In the following example for a Calendar Activity event, the best URL to share is highlighted in yellow. (The longer URL will also work, but it's preferable to publish the shorter one.)
