BEST PRACTICE: Always Use Registrant Attributes to Collect Names and Contact Information
The Registrant Attributes feature is the best way to gather names, email addresses, phone numbers and other contact information for participants in events and programs that are configured for named registrants. When a registration owner adds a new participant, they will be asked to enter the information you requested in Registrant Attributes for the participant. The information collected on the Participants page is used throughout the registration process to identify and display the correct information for participants. Using Registrant Attributes delivers the following benefits:
  • Registrant Attributes simplifies registration for your constituents. If the participant has not been registered before, a Doubleknot profile will be created for the participant and linked to the registration owner. The next time the registration owner logs on, the participant will be listed in the Add Participants window. If the registration owner adds the participant from the Add Participants window, the saved information for the participant will automatically be added to their registration for the event.
  • Registrant Attributes makes it easier for constituents to complete registration forms. If you’re using event registration forms that are assigned per registrant, DO NOT use the form to ask for participant names, registrant type or any other information that can be entered on the Add Participants page. Asking for duplicate information can frustrate your users.

To use Registrant Attributes, follow these steps:

  1. On the management page for the event or program, click Registrant Attributes. The Registrant Attributes page for the event or program will be displayed.
  2.       In the Registrant Type panel, select the registrant type that you’re setting attributes for:
  • To request this information for all registrants, select All. (If the event or program doesn’t use different registrant types, this is the only option.)
  • To request this information for a specific registrant type, select the registrant type.
  1. For each piece of information you want to request, locate the item in the Field column and follow these steps:
  • To request the information, select Show. If you select only Show, the information is requested but not required.
  • To require the information, select Require. The registration owner must provide the information to continue with the registration.
  1.      Follow steps 2-3 for each attribute you want to use.
