BEST PRACTICE: Prepare for Year-End Donation Appeals According to Network for Good, more than 30 percent of all donations occur in December. And, autumn is the time to start planning your holiday appeals. Here are a few ways that Doubleknot can help with your year-end giving: Audience: Remember that you can use Communications Center to send email to anyone who registered for any event or donated in the past. And, if you use the Membership module, you can segment your recipients even further. Content: The well-known rules apply! Craft an appealing subject line, tell a captivating story, and deliver a compelling call to action. Remember, more and more people are reading their email on smartphones, so make sure your appeal looks good on a mobile device, too. Donations: A poorly designed form can turn potential donors away—make sure your donations page is uncluttered and easy to use. Acknowledgements: Remember to thank your donors early and often! For example, you can automatically send a personalized e-card acknowledging donations. And, be sure to configure the fundraiser so that copies of receipts are sent immediately to development staff so they know to thank certain donors personally. |
